"My specialties are test preparation (PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, Praxis etc.) and mathematics tutoring which I offer face-to-face or online. I achieved perfect scores on verbal and mathematics sections of tests such as the GRE and SAT. This means you can expect the highest level of instruction in each category from just one tutor. Although I graduated from Harvard back in 1988, I earned my MSc in mathematics as recently as 2013, and intend to pursue a PhD at some point. I was a test preparation tutor as an undergraduate and I have been a volunteer tutor in local schools as well. After many years working in capital markets, I am very pleased to offer my services as a tutor on a more permanent basis. Learning provides a lifetime of satisfaction for the individual and it is also crucial for the well-being of the nation. There is no more worthwhile activity than to help children reach their potential academically and to appreciate learning itself. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to make a difference in my student's lives. In light of upcoming changes to most of the standardized tests that high school students take, I invariably consult with parents before embarking on tutoring projects. The studentís academic plans, workload and temperament are all important in deciding which tests to take and when to take them. I offer a tailored approach to test preparation, concentrating on trouble areas and failures in strategy that are diagnosed early on. Confidence is paramount when taking a test and this is achieved by gaining easy familiarity through practice and by experiencing continual improvement. I aim to make sessions enjoyable for the student to enable him/her to reach potential without stress. Although the verbal sections of most standardized tests are exercises in logic, there is still a degree of subjectivity which is the most difficult aspect for young people to handle. Choosing the better of two reasonable answers can be a matter for debate and I strongly encourage these discussions to occur. My students are pleasantly surprised that results on the true test are better than on their final practice tests. Development of logical thinking processes through discussion rather than solely relying on solution explanations is a large factor in this, but I must also reveal that flaws exist in many practice materials that are mostly absent on test day. I achieved a perfect score on the GRE verbal section, but this required significant digestion and analysis of prior tests. I went through similar processes when preparing for other tests even in the 80ís. Of course, I pass on my knowledge and the accompanying confidence, but my role is also as a guide so the student can pursue a personal version of this process. There are various ways to grasp mathematical concepts that often differ from how students are taught in school. I never lose sight of the fact that understanding is the goal and that all ways are ultimately equivalent. In this respect I aim to be flexible and once I have discovered how a student naturally approaches problems, I adapt methods and suggestions accordingly. Math is frustrating to some and natural to others. A flexible approach is indispensable in mitigating these differences. You can be assured that I am an authority on math testing based on my performances on the following: I scored 800/800 on each of PSAT, SAT and Math I and II achievement tests, 5/5 on AP calculus and 169/170 on the GRE. If you are considering me as a mathematics subject tutor, please know that I achieved a distinction on my MSc course and dissertation too. I am familiar with the high school curriculum, since my daughters are enrolled, and the content of AP exams and I am also ready to help with selected college topics. Although I am new to TutorZ, with your support I hope to flourish on this site and help many people succeed. Please do not hesitate to get in touch, I am looking forward to helping you achieve your academic goals." less...

He provides a comprehensive & critical-thinking approach to problem areas, carefully analyzing my strengths and weaknesses as well as demonstrating many alternative routes for arriving at correct answers. We have been learning about the strategy of test-taking, identifying exactly what types of questions, in both math & verbal sections, the GRE contains. He is exceptionally resourceful and responsive & has a professional, friendly manner. I highly recommend him as a teacher."|
