"I specialize in the fields of critical and creative writing, public speaking, editing, research, English and Literature, techniques to improve concentration, memory, confidence, and mood, Psychology, study skills, and World Religions. I have taught professionally at the elementary, high school, and university level and instructed private students in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, California, and Florida since 2000.
I've been a spiritual counselor and teacher of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation for 14 years (E-RYT 500 certified), and served as a C-suite speechwriter and public speaking coach for 3 years.
When I was in middle school, Johns Hopkins invited me to take the SAT for high-ranking verbal scores on standardized tests, and in subsequent years, I continued to score highly on the SAT in critical reading, writing, and literature and GRE verbal and writing sections. As an undergraduate, I was inducted into the National Dean's List, Omicron Delta Kappa (Leadership Society), and Juniata College Student Ambassadors. I served as a Visual Art Director in the Theater Department and was a NCAA Cross Country MVP and Track and Field All-Region, All-Conference Athlete. While completing my Master's degree in Religious Studies, I was 'Student of the Year', served as a student ambassador to His Holiness the Dalai Lama's fundraising visit, and received highest honors without contest for my thesis on Buddhist metaphysics. From 2014 to 2015, I took 48 credits of doctoral coursework in Clinical Psychology.
Along the way, I have been a babysitter, nanny, tutor and mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, camp counselor, teen adventure trip leader, outdoor educator, teambuilder, yoga teacher trainer, and Track and Field and Cross Country coach.
It would be an honor to work with you! My intention for every lesson is to enable the student to feel like the experience is personal, relevant, and empowering and to guide the mind into its natural state of openness, flexibility, and acuity." less...
