"Hi, I'm Raj, and I’m a strategy-focused tutor with a B.S. in Business Economics from UC San Diego. For the past year, I’ve helped high school students strengthen their skills in calculus, geometry, algebra, SAT prep, finance, and college essay writing. My students often achieve not only higher grades but also greater confidence when they commit to the study strategies we develop together.

My teaching style focuses on understanding why we solve problems a certain way, not just how. In our first session, I take time to learn about each student’s goals and challenges, then build a personalized plan that evolves with practice, review, and test-taking strategies. I also adapt pacing and assignments to each student’s capacity so learning feels effective, not overwhelming.

I graduated summa cum laude from high school with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and scored a 1420 on the SAT, placing me in the top 5% of test takers nationwide. These experiences reflect my own academic discipline and allow me to guide students with firsthand knowledge of what it takes to excel. Many of my students have since seen significant improvements in their test scores and classroom performance, which is the most rewarding part of tutoring for me.

What sets me apart is my holistic focus. Many students struggle less with ability than with intimidation, anxiety, or poor study habits. I work with them on building confidence, managing time effectively, and maintaining balance, giving them tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

Outside tutoring, I’ve worked as a research assistant at UCSD’s Atkinson Behavioral Research Lab and now in the wealth management and finance industry. These experiences help me connect abstract concepts to real-world applications, making learning more practical and engaging.
