I was a special education teacher for 28 years and especially enjoyed working in the areas of English, Reading, Writing and Social Studies. I worked with many students who had learning disabilities such as ADHD, emotional issues, and academic deficiencies. I enjoyed making lessons that incorporated hands on activities and other creatives resources to help learners who don't learn in traditional ways. I believe learning comes differently to all students and finding resources and methods to clarify concepts is an art in tutoring. This needs to be done in a way that supports what is going on in the classroom and lets the student feel more comfortable learning in their home school environment.
