"I have taught at public schools for over twenty years. The majority of this time was spent as a social science and special education teacher at the high school level, where I supervised a staff of four adults and instructed ten to fifteen students on a daily basis. These youth had a variety of challenges ranging from mental retardation, autism, learning disability, ADHD, orthopedic impairments, behavior problems, and seizure disorders.

In addition to classroom teaching, I have worked at a community college where I taught courses in early childhood education. I taught three years at an Alternative School where I worked with youth who were deficient in credits for graduation. Currently, I tutor students on an individual basis. These children usually have severe medical conditions that impact their ability to attend public school on a regular basis.

Throughout my teaching career, I have been seen by administrators, colleagues, students, and parents as an educator who conducts himself with a high degree of professionalism, organization, and preparation. In addition, many frequently comment on my degree of patience, organization, flexibility, friendliness, compassion, and desire to establish a realistic sense of trust with students. It is only through trust and a willingness to share that learning and progress develop between a teacher and a student.

My tutoring methods stem from a methodology that emphasizes trust, organization, frequent monitoring for understanding, and assessment. It is important that the tutor provides students with feedback and encourages them to do well. Tutors should go through their students' assignments and keep a check on the tutorials. Some tutors go out of their way to help their students with different techniques on how to memorize their curriculum. Since the tutors are experienced in this field, it is their job to adapt to the mindset of the child.
