"My name is Min, and I'm a PhD candidate pursuing a degree in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I was born in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, but I grew up and spent most of my life in Los Angeles. I received my bachelors of science from UCLA in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, with a minor in Biomedical Research. First and foremost, I keep all my tutoring sessions casual and conversational. It is up to the students to decide if they want to address me with a prefix, but I prefer to be called "Min" or "Minsub." This is to ensure students don't feel an unnecessary barrier simply because I may be older. During sessions, I try to avoid using jargon as much as possible, while entertaining my audience with anecdotes and metaphorical examples to facilitate understanding of a concept. Learning is not a difficult process, as long as instructors deconstruct the lessons in a comprehensible manner. As an educator, I will perform my duty and prepare ahead of time in order to effectively teach my students.

Since 2011, I've been tutoring peers, colleagues, and students in various subjects, ranging from life and physical sciences to economics and statistics, to calculus. I worked as a lead STEM coordinator at Bright Academy for 3 years, and I've taught and mentored over a dozen students. I'm also currently working for Polygence as a PhD mentor, where I oversee high school students with various research projects, such as nowcasting global food insecurity and performing fundamental analyses on company's stock and modeling price projections. I am a strong proponent of education, and I believe everyone can achieve success. One of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring is when my students find value in what they are studying, which opens up their inquisitive minds and becomes motivated to learn and explore new avenues beyond their interests/expertises.

I've been teaching math in almost all grade levels, starting with Algebra 1 and geometry all the way up to AP Calc" less...
