"Hi there everyone!
My name is Angel. I'm currently based in Buffalo. I have been an ESL teacher for 4.5 years. I have been working in education for the past 7 years. I received my bachelor's at UCSB in 2011 and my master's in 2017 in London, United Kingdom. I have worked in the USA, the UK, and South Korea in educational settings. I received my degrees in International Relations. In the past years, I have taught students aged 5-adult and from many diverse cultural and economical backgrounds. As a tutor, I worked in many settings and ways at schools, as a personal tutor, and an online/wyzant tutor. I have taught a wide range of topics. I have focused very much on English language skills and have also taught many immersion courses in English for ESL learners. At the moment my specialities are focused on subjects such as English, Writing, Social Sciences, Science, Photography, and Videography.
I enjoy learning and love to help others enjoy as well. This is why I decided to become a tutor and also a reason I want to become a teacher one day. I started tutoring back in high school by peer tutoring my fellow classmates. I helped other students with math, English, writing, science, and history. In college I was a part of an organization named "Global Awareness Club at UCSB" in which we would teach K-12 classes on global history, culture, events, and current affairs/issues. I was responsible for helping create lesson plans to engage all types of students in learning about all these subjects.
I believe that tutoring methods are completely specific to the individual student and their learning process. I find it best to asset their level on a subject, create goals, and then find a method in which they learn best. I make sure not to do their work for them but help guide a student through steps to problem solving and study skills. My philosophy is: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
I am currently employed in Buffalo, NY at a local non-profit. However, I" less...
