"Coming from a country such as Romania, I feel privileged to be able to be a scholar at a UK school and whilst my ambition is to one day become a pilot, the grounding this experience has given me will provide me with the best preparation to one day find my wings and fly.

Through this letter, I hope you find out more about myself and my personality.

Having only been there for a term and a half I believe I have really fit in and used all the opportunities to learn more about this amazing school. One of my most recent achievements was coming in first place with my team at Monmouth's Got Talent. Throughout this experience, I learnt more about myself and how determined I really can be, and I also believe my teamwork skills really blossomed through during this time.

In terms of extra-curricular activities, I took part in a lot of events in my old school. One of the most remarkable ones was one year ago, in March, when I was chosen to be a member of the 'She Runs' team in Paris. The program had the purpose to support women's rights in the sports field and fight for their equality. My friend and I were designated to be the leaders of the team, which meant staying two extra days in Paris for a workshop related to how to design and implement big scale projects.

My colleague and I created an event that we later on implemented in our school and which had a big impact on the students. We promoted physical activity while engaging in fun competitions, and therefore even the students who are not so involved in sports had a lot of fun. It taught me a lot about leadership and responsibility, but also about teamwork.

In September last year, I was invited by the president of the International Sports Federation to attend a conference in Brussels where I showcased my implemented project in front of the General Director of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture in the European Commission, Alderman of Climate and Sports for the City of Brussels, Canada Broadcast executive and many important figures in the sports field. This really helped me become very confident in my public speaking.

I am also very involved in volunteering activities, hence my school Enrichment, when I go to the Parade House in Monmouth and take care of the elderly. Back in Romania, I used to get involved in many fundraisings and charities: my classmates and I organised a fundraiser for a boy in our school who was in a desperate need of a 10.000 euro brain surgery. We tried to help him by making handmade decorations and selling them to other people and then donating all the money. I also used to go to a foster childcare house in my town, where I was playing with the children, entertaining and dancing with them, painting on their faces, as well as singing with them. In addition to that, I was part of the Scouts for 6 years, which was a remarkable experience, as it taught me a lot about being independent and having a logical approach on any kind of situation I might face. I am also a Peer Mentor in school, which is a very important role for me.

Throughout my life, I have faced many challenges which taught me how to always be determined to the extent that I got an Academic Scholarship which gave me the opportunity to study there. I am so grateful to our school for giving me the opportunity to achieve my needed grades and dreams, and I feel like it is my time to give back.

I believe I will be a valuable member of your team. I am a fast learner and a good team member. I know how to express myself clearly and concisely. For these reasons, I believe that the role as a tutor would suit me best and it would be an excellent opportunity to further show my commitment." less...
