"Hello! I am a teacher, certified in special education, grades PreK - 8. I love helping students learn to read and improve upon their reading. It is as rewarding for me as it is for my students.

I have taught students from pre-k through high school in the areas of reading and writing. Working one on one with students, I work hard to make the lessons as fun and inviting as possible. In addition to teaching phonics, fluency and vocabulary to mastery, I am sure to include rich literature with selections that match the individual interests of each student with whom is work. I set high expectations of my students and celebrate all achievements, large and small. Most of all I am passionate about igniting a lifelong love of reading in young people.

I am licensed in the area of special education and have helped many struggling students achieve grade level reading. I am trained and certified in the Wilson Reading Program and each of my lessons includes phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary development and spelling. I ensure that my students learn each new skill is learned to the point of mastery before moving on. Each new lesson builds upon the prior knowledge and skill.

I also teach writing. My writing lessons vary depending on grade level and skill level. They include different genres of writing such as narrative, descriptive and expository. I accommodate each writers learning style and needs into my lessons. I work on building stamina along with methods for thought organization and sequencing. Together, we work through the steps of drafting, revising and editing.
