"I'm a word nerd. I love English and love sharing it with others. My goal as a tutor is to get you to where you need to be and work myself out of a job.

My goal has always been to make learning as enjoyable as possible in age appropriate ways. That means I have games ready for lessons, reading texts that interest your student, and allowing students to be silly. There is always an appropriate balance of fun and learning. It's been a long year, and it's time for your student excited to read again, to sharpen their skills so they're ready for the Fall, and my approach might even trick them to enjoy it!

The First Meeting

Our first meeting will be to discuss your goals, timeframe, abilities, and interests. We'll sort out how often to meet based on your goals. I'll periodically ask for feedback to ensure you're satisfied and adjust if you aren't. I'm here to help you and I want you to succeed. You can expect homework from me to practice your skills in between lessons. No matter what, I will expect you to do your best when you work with me and you can expect the same from me.

The Fun Stuff

On a more fun note, I love to be creative-I sew, knit, crochet, paint, and upcycle furniture. My favorite writers are Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Katherine Ann Porter, Edith Wharton, Stephen Crane, and many others. I know when to be serious and focused, but I like to laugh. I listen to a variety of music and watch Netflix." less...
