"I prefer to bring real world experience with a “outside the box” creative approach. As a corporate manager for 15+ years, I have managed, trained, and mentored people in all stages of their career. I combine business acumen with my undergrad degree in Creative Writing. I have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Syracuse University (3.94 GPA). I can teach reading, interpretation, and writing (essay or creative) to elementary, junior high, high school, college students, and professionals. I can also teach many business skills to college level, entry level, and experienced employees. Further, I also coach high school basketball.

Outside of traditional academic knowledge, please allow me to explain my approach.

First, I believe success is achieved in two different stages:

1)Theory - School, training, and/or practice teaches theory. This is the learning portion that includes work in the classroom, homework, quizzes, and understanding the subject matter. You must understand and interpret what you read or learn.

2)Execution – This is theory in action. It is “doing”. Take what you just learned and apply it into real world situations such as on a test or in your daily career. Sometimes multiple theories are needed to complete real world tasks. A person has to put theory into action.

That may sound simple, but in my years of experience as a Manager, I’ve found that many people (even college grads) fail in Execution. They understand the theory, but cannot execute that theory to produce a positive result. For example, you can learn how to cook and learn as many recipes as you want (theory), but you still have to actually turn on the stove and cook (execution). You must master both stages to be successful. That is what I teach in addition to academic knowledge. The lack of ability to bridge theory and execution is why I want to teach in the first place.
