"I have seen the difficulties that students have with writing from several different angles.

I teach (and grade papers!) at the college level, and have been doing so for quite awhiel, in 100- and 200-level and adult education courses. As a result, I know what your professors will be looking for! The classes themselves have been philosophy, literature, and writing courses, which all involve critical reading and writing, so I have been teaching those skills as part of those classes for just as long.

I have also worked in two university writing centers, tutoring students of all disciplines in both, and training other writing tutors in one of them. This means that I know how to help you write about material I've never seen before, but also means that I've probably seen your subject, whatever it might be, before. I've also heard students struggle with the writing advice or assignment instructions of hundreds of teachers, and I have helped them make sense of their own work.

I bring all of this experience to bear on my work as a private writing coach.

Ask me for help with the following things!

How to write introductions, thesis statements, and conclusions

How to structure a paper

How to make your writing "flow"

How to integrate quotes

How to practice reading research

How to understand the context of almost any subject material

How to apply critical reading to literature, classical texts, and modern scholarship.

Though I would not and cannot guarantee what your teacher will think or do, I can't count the number of A's I've helped students secure." less...
