"My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. As a UVA ECE graduate, I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. I was a faculty teaching and researching in the University of Electronic science and technology of China between 1989 to 1999. I have had the pleasure of advising undergraduates and graduates conducting research projects. In US, I was a teaching assistant for different level of college calculus classes at UVA. Although having been worked in high technology medical imaging industry for the past decade, I have maintained long term relationship with American faculties in academia. If you review my publications on IEEE transaction journals and International conferences on image processing , you would obtain a direct impression of my mathematical and engineering background.

I specialize in tutoring math and Matlab programming for success in school and on the SAT, GRE exams. At work, I apply partial differential equation based methods for digital image processing and analysis. I devise probabilistic models and algorithms for target detection, characterization and recognition. Matlab programming is my daily tool for testing, and prototyping new methods. In my tutoring, I will take a trial and error method to set and tune the pace. For each session I'd keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign homework after each lesson, provide periodic assessments and progress reports. I often ask for feedback upon which I make adjustment.

I hold myself to a high standard and will strive to meet the requirements of the student or parents. "No satisfactory tutoring, no billing" is my slogan.

I try to be flexible with time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I offer makeup classes.

For tutoring I am happy to travel to public locations or a location that is more convenient for the student.
