Summer learning loss is a real problem. But you can stop it and keep kids brains active. Transform summer into a great time of learning opportunities for kids.

Use your imagination to turn your house into a science lab and have fun with your kids. Here are a list of exciting and engaging educational activities for summer break.

– Observe how the weather changes from day to day. Including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and clouds. You could even try to predict the weather by yourselves.

– Make your own rainbow. All you need is a garden hose, or sprinkler, and sunlight!

– Help your kids invent a recipe for a summer fruit salad or cool summer drink for backyard bbq or any occasion. Let them use their imagination and mix whatever fruits they want: strawberries, peaches, apples, pineapples, coconut, etc.

– Form your own Natural History Museum. Ask your kids to bring in items such as shells, rocks, bark, etc. then organize, categorize, and label them.

– Ask you kids questions. For instance: How long does it take an ice cube to melt outside in the summer heat? How long does it take water to freeze (in a plastic ice cube versus a metal ice cube tray)?

– Make your own bubble solution. Have your kids experiment with the bubble formula using water, corn syrup, and liquid dish soap to see which combinations work best for a whole lot of bubble-blowing fun.

Get your kids a notebook or journal where they can write down results. You can supplement your notes with pictures to make it more fun.
