April, Hello. Could you please clarify a few items? Does 'in person' tutoring mean that you come to the home? We have never utilized a tutor before for any of our children so this is new to me. It used to be easier to help our children ourselves and they all have done well. this year, however, our 13 yo son's grades have begun to decline this past year and he is resistant to our help. He was adopted from Guatemala at age 4 y 11 mo w/his biological older sister who was 6 y 7 mo at the time. Both children spoke only Spanish at that time and eventually refused to speak it as they acquired English). Our daughter has never had an issue with reading / English (LOVES to read) and continues to make A's, but our son seemed to begin struggling more this year as his subjects have become more difficult, requiring excellent reading / comprehension skills to manage the higher level of academic work . He is completing 7th grade @ St. John the Baptist in Monaca. We live in Raccoon Twp, approx 20 min from St. John the Baptist. I am concerned that what appears to be a lag in his reading/ English skills will continue to affect his grades in other subjects as well. I am considering a trial period of tutoring for him during the summer. Could you please outline how you approach tutoring in reading / English, including the frequency and how you would assess his current skill level & determine a path to follow, as well as days and times you are available.
