Spelling in Ithaca, NY

Hi Jennifer, I have an 8th grade daughter who is a bright, quick honor roll student. She has always had perfect spelling, grammar, punctuation and an early ability to read fluently. She is, however, not a reader, and, as a result, her ELA test scores have suffered each year since 4th grade. She needs work on vocabulary, incorporating colorful language and interesting sentence structure into her writing, and organizing essays. Also, although she has always been able to read very complicated craft instructions and carry them out herself, she needs help with comprehension and summarizing important points of what she has read. I do not know yet if she will be willing to do tutoring, but I would like to meet with you to see if it would be a match and I can speak to her about it. Thanks!
