Bar Exam
Hi Marion,
Good morning.
I am searching for a bar exam tutor for the NJ Bar Exam. I sat for the bar exam in Feb 13 and July, failing both times with a 127. As you know, 133 is passing. My MBE score was 121.3 in Feb and 122 in July.
I used recent bar review materials, self studied, worked full time and studied M-F during the evenings and for the most part, did full days during the weekends. Having just received the news, I thinking of sitting for it one more time, but this time, with the help of a tutor. I'll be honest, I haven't worked with a tutor before and was always leary of it! But after reading your profile I figured I should reconsider.
I don't do well studying full time and find that I tend to get overwhelmed with long stretches of studying. I think having come so close, I don't think that working and studying hurts me. But I do think I wasn't studying smart or practicing enough. I think I really need help to study "smarter" with with an individualized approach. In hindsight I feel that if I had more focused studying in the areas that would have gotten me the most points, perhaps I would have been successful.
Therefore, I need most help with a schedule. I do have some limitations - I still work full time, except now I work in NJ. I live in Northern, NJ so my commute is less stressful. I am working on securing child care for my son three evenings a week to get more hours in. Prior I was only able to study from 8 or 9pm -12, 12:30am M-F. I worked until the day before the exam. At the time I worked in NYC,so I did experience some challenges with time. Now I drive in to work daily, so I have a good hour in where I could listen to a lecture. I also have the autonomy to leave work early, where I didn't have that freedom to do so before. I think I will have more study time overall than the last exam.
So with this in mind, I decided to block out my study time ahead of time. I looked at the remainder of Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb and estimate that I have 95 days to study (give or take 3 days) were I to study for Feb's exam, this is with days off scheduled in for commitments, and I may request a week off in January. I think it's doable, but need help with the essays, I can send you my essay scores if you are interested.
In sum I need:
1. Help with a study schedule with the above limitations in mind tailored to my weaker subjects
2. Help with a focused plan of studying
3. Essay critique in my weaker subjects (Con Law; NJ Procedure) I am ordering a copy of my essay answers as well.
So I hope I didn't provide too much information, but I thought it would be helpful to lay it all out ahead of time. Please advise on your thoughts for the above and thanks for your time.
