German in Columbus, OH
Hello,
I am a recent college graduate that will be entering the University of Washington's PhD program in Comparative Literature. I would like to focus on German Romanticism and need to get to my German reading proficiency to a good level in order to qualify for German 200 courses. I have taken 7 years of German, in middle and highschool, but have not seriously used the language in four years.
My interests in German may be relevant to other fields of yours. Certain topics I'd like to prepare for in the general field of German literature are the philosophies of Kant and Schopenhauer, the poetry of Holderlin, Goethe, and Rilke, and the works of Thomas Mann.
I would like to enter graduate school after this summer feeling confident and prepared to read texts such as these. Please let me know if and when you are available, as well as what other details you need.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
D. T.
