Thermodynamics in Leesburg, VA
Hello Hans,
I am struggling with one of my assignments for my advanced energy engineering economics module. I have seen that you have a PhD in Engineering and Energy so your might be able to help me with the problem.
My problem is the following one: I have to size a CHP plant based on the techno economical data provided. They also give me a few tables with the demand pero hour, month... and requirements.
1) I have a CHP packaged unit (it costs 900$/KWe) with prime mover comprising 75% of total.
2)CHP plant 40% electricity efficiency and 40% waste heat recovery, the remainder being lost at MCR.
3) EL= 15 years
4) Discount rate 5%
5) inflation rate 2%
6) LP steam supplied at 130 C and 2 bar while condensate return temperature is 70C.
7) Existing diesel boiler efficiency 85%.
8) Diesel Engine availability 98%.
Typical engine and part load performance is given in a table whit Heat Rate C.F. and Waste Heat Recovery C.F.
I have to present and analyze my data.
I have to do an Optimization
Allocation of costs to heat and electricity... etc.
I hope you could help me,
Thanks a million,
J.

- Prof BAM is absolutely amazing.
In 3 weeks, brought my son's regents test score up 14 points.
He's professional and extremely good at what he does.
He shows his students how to break the test questions down to be more successful.
He always works with our busy schedule. Highly recommend.
