I am looking for someone proficient in Photoshop that can show me how to touch up a digital image of a painting that is over 200 years old (there is no copyright here). The photograph I received is from the National Archives and is the best quality I can find but due to the age of the photo and the lighting when the photo was taken, there are numerous shading and imperfections in the digital image A number of areas will need to be removed leaving the background behind the image that was removed the same color as surrounding colors. I have worked with Photoshop for years but not in the areas this project requires. Having viewed numerous videos on YouTube I am familiar with the patch too, cloning tool, healing tool and a number of other functions to touch up the image but I have no idea which one, if any, is the right tool for this project. I feel that if someone can show me what needs to be done that I can complete the project. Or if I find the solution to the problem is over my head, then hopefully find someone that can complete the project for me. I have Photoshop Pro CS5. I live in the UCF area.
