"My Teaching Approach

I teach students to think like nurses, not just memorize facts. In over a decade training nurses, I have always focused on understanding the why behind every intervention because every patient is different. I use real patient scenarios to make concepts click and create a space where mistakes are part of learning. For NCLEX prep, I help students eliminate wrong answers strategically and build the critical thinking skills they need to pass. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, simple explanations that stick.

My Experience

I have oriented hundreds of nurses to ICU nursing and open-heart recovery through one-on-one precepting and group classes in both one-on-one and group settings. I've trained nurses on all ICU devices including LVADs, ECMO, CRRT, ventilators, arterial lines, and hemodynamic monitoring, with particular expertise in cardiovascular critical care. I've worked at both a magnet hospital and a teaching hospital, where I taught in simulation labs and led specialized courses in emergency sternotomy and external pacemaker management. While my clinical background is in critical care, I work with students at all levels and I genuinely enjoy making challenging science concepts accessible and less intimidating.

My Background

I earned my nursing degree in 2011 and have worked exclusively in critical care, specializing in cardiovascular ICU for eight years where I recovered over 700 cardiac surgery patients. I completed my BSN at the University of Washington in 2024 and am currently in my first year of CRNA school at Westminster University. I've been recognized with the Daisy Award for nursing excellence. I'm tutoring now because I need flexibility during school, but honestly, I just love teaching.
