"Master of Public Health (MPH), Emory University

Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy (BA), Vanderbilt University

After graduating with an MPH (with a concentration in health policy and management) from Emory University, I made a deliberate and somewhat serendipitous transition from a career in health policy research to a career in higher education. Since then, I’ve encouraged undergraduate and graduate students to ask and seek answers to questions about how their academic and intellectual interests inform their short- and longer-term professional aspirations.

I have over ten years of professional experience supporting undergraduate and graduate students at public and private R1 universities. By far, my primary role in higher ed—that is, how I I spend the vast majority of work hours now (and previously)—involves career advising, academic advising, and public health and professional development instruction. Over the years, I’ve provided thousands of hours of 1-on-1 and group career and academic advising for undergraduate populations ranging from 400 to 600 students; and intensive 1-on-1 career, job search, and professional development coaching for graduate populations ranging from 40 to 70 master’s students per semester.

Students who I support represent a range of academic disciplines, including public health, engineering, data science, public policy, economics, criminal justice, and social work. Students' career interests span the gamut as well: public health, health systems engineering, humanitarian logistics, gerontology and population aging, digital health, Big Tech, Big Retail, environmental sustainability, government, health care policy, finance, autonomous vehicle safety, consulting, social good startups, and more." less...
