"Hi, I’m James! I graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Biological Chemistry and Chemistry and earned my Master’s in Teaching from Pace University. I’ve spent over 12 years teaching middle school science in New York City public schools, including 5 years teaching Regents-level high school Algebra. I also have multiple years of experience tutoring SHSAT, SAT, and ACT math. Throughout all my work, I’ve been committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities.

As a tutor and teacher, I focus on creating a welcoming and supportive space where students feel confident tackling challenging topics. I believe great learning starts with trust and making lessons engaging. I tailor each session to fit the student’s unique strengths, needs, and interests. Usually, I introduce topics clearly and step-by-step, then give students time to practice independently while providing support when needed. I’m especially focused on helping students understand the “why” behind concepts and sharing tips and strategies that make test prep less stressful.
