"I love helping students discover and build their skills. I've worked with young adults for 20 years at the college level, and I worked with teenage boys for around ten years when I was director of the nonprofit Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Minnesota. Recently, I've substituted in almost all K-12 grades to get a better understanding of what our children are experiencing in the classroom. This included reading support for children in K-3 all the way up to high school English courses.

I have earned two master's degrees. The first was in English and the second was in Theology and the Arts. After ten years teaching English at the community college level, I went back to graduate school to get enough Education credits to also teach Reading courses at the college level (many students arrive to college with reading levels at or below the 9th grade level).

In addition to teaching English classes ranging from developmental writing courses, regular composition courses, and literature, I've taught developmental reading and student success courses.
