"30 MINUTE FREE INTRO LESSON ! ! !

Dear potential students,

Hi. It's me. Your future tutor. How's it going? Are you excited to improve at your subject? Are you excited to learn? I know you might be feeling nervous about this new thing; asking for help, meeting with a tutor. I just wanted to write and let you know how great our sessions will be. Some of them will be challenging and we'll want to yell. Some will be satisfying, successful, splendid, and surprising. I get nervous too. Teaching can be challenging just like learning.

For as long as I can remember I've loved learning and I have struggled as a student. At some point, I realized that I'm not unique in my struggles. There are other students like me who get antsy sitting for an entire class, who have difficulties with focus and concentration, who need something to fidget with in order to learn. I realized that my weaknesses as a student are ultimately my strengths as an educator. I can understand what my students may be going through. I can understand that in education one size does not fit all.

I learned a bunch over the years. It wasn't easy. I finished a Masters Degree in Education and Judaic Studies. I also earned certifications in Permaculture design and Intensive Judaic Text study. I've been teaching for about 20 years. I have tutored in elementary education, English and Hebrew language, Judaic studies, and environmental education. I've taught in Schools, youth groups, farms, universities, and absorption centers. I've taught on a plane, on a bus, on a hike, and in a river. The world is full of learning opportunities.

Every individual has a path to learning. It's up to the student and the teacher (and maybe the parent) to find that path.
