"Hello!

I have been teaching K-5th grade students for the last 29 years; 22 in the classroom and 7 in an online school platform. The majority of my experience has been in 1st and 3rd grade classrooms. I love helping students succeed in all areas, especially reading, writing and math. I believe that a nurturing and loving environment supports the best results for a child to take risks, retain information and enjoy the learning process.

I have been teaching reading skills for the last 30 years and strongly agree with The Science of Reading around phonemic awareness, phonics and word recognition, fluency and vocabulary, and comprehension. I have many different resources and activities to build on your child's strengths and/or weaknesses.

As for math skills, I teach a variety of strategies to guide my students to understand the why behind the how. I do believe that kids still need to master the basics to be able to build upon their knowledge and understanding to connect with real world situations.
