"Hi there, I'm Jake! I graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Human Biology. Following this, I received my Master of Medical Science degree then subsequently began my medical school journey. I received highly competitive scores on USMLE Step 2 and my medical school coursework. In addition, other subjects I strongly focus on are STEM-related, anything from elementary to college level math and science (anatomy, physiology, chemistry, physics, etc.). I specialize in standardized test prep, including USMLE, COMLEX, MCAT, NCLEX, ACT, and SAT preparation. To me, what makes a good tutor is successful outcomes in a high-quality learning environment. Reflecting on my years of vigorous coursework, the teachers that stood out to me were caring, compassionate, and patient with the learning process. I strive to do the same for all students on their academic journey.

Here's a little bit about me- my tutoring experience began three years ago working with peer first- and second-year students aged 22 to 30, focusing on foundational subjects like histology and anatomy while incorporating interactive tools to reinforce retention and critical thinking. I have plentiful experience working both one-on-one, and in group settings of up to 8 people. My methods prioritize active learning—starting with a diagnostic assessment of strengths and weaknesses, then building personalized plans that include feedback sessions and progress tracking to build confidence and independence. I prioritize understanding key concepts of information while implementing memorization strategies when necessary. My ultimate goal is to set you up with lifelong tools for success that allow you to master the subject.
