Raised by my mother, a Spanish teacher, I have a B.A. in Spanish and spent my junior year in Spain. I maintain near-native fluency through travel, various bilingual positions, and friendships with native Spanish speakers from several countries. I am certified to tutor students in the Rosetta Stone method. My two Music degree programs included excellent teaching methods courses and professional performing experiences. I train students of all levels of ability.

In over 5,300 hours of tutoring both subjects for over 11 years, I have honed the ability to explain concepts clearly and sequentially while making the learning experience enjoyable and personalized to the individual's interests, goals, and learning style. Music Theory can be an intimidating subject for many gifted, artistic musicians. I proceed systematically, encouraging the student and relating concepts to familiar music. My knowledge of the voice is valuable in enabling Ear Training students to reproduce the tones they hear. In Music History, we compare trends in art, architecture, and culture of the period and look at the biographical information on composers, their influencers, and their contributions to style trends.
