"Hi! I'm Eva, a graduate of Williams College ('23) with a degree in Computer Science. I have tutored math and computer science for 7 years through school and college peer tutoring programs, helping struggling students to regain their footing in their classes. I am passionate about creating a welcoming environment where students feel safe to ask questions and get things wrong without being judged, and in particular where members of groups who are underrepresented in STEM fields can gain confidence in their skill and belonging.
I work with students in high school and college in math and computer science. I tutor any math from Algebra I through Calculus; I have experience coding in Python, Java, C/C++, and F# and have tutored dozens of students through the two-semester Computer Science intro sequence and beyond. Algorithms & Data Structures and any beginning coding classes are some of my favorite classes to tutor!
I approach tutoring as a joint effort between teacher and student; you're here to learn and I'm here to provide a path for your learning and help you through the places where you get stuck. I am happy to work with whatever learning style works for you. Most of my students take a learn-by-doing approach: together, we work our way through practice problems on the topic you're trying to learn, and hopefully, you find yourself gaining skill and confidence and relying less and less on me each time. Often, students surprise themselves with how much they actually know!
I believe all students should have access to education regardless of their economic situation. If my rates do not work for you, please contact me. I am willing to adjust my rates substantially to meet your financial situation.
I hope to work with you on your learning journey!" less...
