"Hi! My name is Rebecca; I graduated with a B.S.E. in Engineering Physics concentrating in Mechanical Engineering. I have spent the last 7 years tutoring college and high school level mathematics and Physics, and currently work as an engineer. I have worked with high-school students, college students majoring in science, and college students outside the sciences.

I understand what it means to be confused by a subject, and my passion is helping students to get that moment where the light bulb goes off, and it all clicks into place. The commitment, effort, and time it takes to understand the problem enough to be confused and then work toward understanding it an admirable pursuit; my goal is to assist in this process. I fully believe learning is about understanding the deeper 'why?' rather than the 'what?' or 'how?'. Mathematical formulas, in both math and physics, are useless without context and meaning. Rather I see them as relationships to be utilized in problem-solving, but not the whole of the subject. Instead, I aim to instill an understanding of why those relationships work and how they can be more fully understood.

In mathematics, the numbers and letters are a language. They form complex and beautiful patterns that are difficult to understand. I have both the experience (4 semesters of college math and 7 years tutoring) and tenacity to help students to understand that language.

I like to think of physics as the collision of the natural world and mathematics. It's a weird and wonderful collider scope of strangeness. My 4 years of extensive undergraduate work in physics, career as an engineer and 7 years tutoring physics makes me an ideal candidate to help students of any level understand and build problem-solving skills for math and physics.

If you are interested or have any questions, please let me know!" less...
