"I earned my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where every upper-division history and government course demanded deep primary-source research, long-form analytical essays, and frequent class briefings. Those projects sharpened my ability to translate dense material into clear, engaging explanations—skills that carried over when I presented my capstone paper on FDR's New Deal for WW2 America at UTSA’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.
My most formative instructional experience came through two years as a senior delegate and peer coach for the UTSA Model UN program. Each week I led small-group workshops on parliamentary procedure, Cold-War bloc history, and persuasive speaking for teammates ranging from freshmen to graduate students. Under my guidance several newcomers earned “Best Delegate” awards at regional conferences. These roles gave me hundreds of hours working one-on-one and in groups with learners aged 18–22, both in person and online, so I’m comfortable adjusting tone and pace to fit high-school sophomores cramming for AP U.S. History or college freshmen refining research papers.
Every session ends with a concise one-page recap highlighting key facts, vocabulary, and next-step questions. This structure not only improves content mastery but also cultivates the critical-thinking habits that history and government courses demand. I look forward to helping students discover how the past shapes today—and empowering them to express that insight with confidence." less...
