"With eight years of tutoring experience, experience with online tutoring and an educational background with classes in both education and technology and Spanish language and cultures, your child will start to say, “¡Sí, yo puedo!” (meaning “Yes, I can!”) after our sessions. Over the course of my interdisciplinary degree, some courses I studied included Spanish, Latin American Studies, linguistics and multicultural education policy. I am more than eager to tutor students with learning challenges or difficulties.

My tutoring method is rooted in the idea that students need to engage critically with the Spanish language in order to excel.

During lessons, I instruct and give examples of how to use the language for about 25% of the lesson, and students spend about 75% of the lesson doing the hard work themselves - with support as needed.

For instance:

-Students write their own sentences at or above grade level.

-Students explain the grammatical concepts to me.

-Students defend why their answers are grammatically correct.

The practice creating their own work and thinking critically when self-correcting gives them the mastery of the language needed to excel on homework and tests. Other results my students see are an increase in confidence and an improved attitude towards Spanish.
