"I'm a PhD Candidate at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center studying Molecular and Developmental Biology, and have a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. I have 10 years’ experience working in and studying the biological and medical sciences. I have high level understanding of genetics, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology from my studies and research projects. I have performed research in various areas of biology including pulmonology, cellular senescence, heart development, somitogenesis, and transcription. I aim to draw from my research experience to apply real world examples to the biology I teach. I have also studied higher level math including Calculus and Differential Equations along with a strong familiarity of engineering fundamentals of mechanics, forces, and basic electric circuits.
Along with practical research experience I have had a strong academic success record. I graduated high school with a 3.9 GPA and placed in the 95th percentile of the ACT exam. This earned me the Cincinnatus Scholarship. My success has continued throughout undergrad and my graduate studies where I currently hold a 3.8 GPA. During my undergraduate studies I was awarded the McMicken Scholar award and acceptance into AED Honors Society.
I have coached High School football, as well as trained undergraduate students and research technicians in the lab. This has provided experience on instructing to both individuals and groups. I like to have students explain concepts back to me as I feel it helps them build understanding, as well as repetition in practice problems to help solidify techniques and understanding. I am very patient and happy to work with students to figure out what is working for them and what isn't to tailor the sessions to fit the individual’s needs.
I have a kind and patient tutoring style and offer a back and forth with my student’s vs a lecture style. I look forward to working with you!" less...
