"Hi,
My name is Frank. I have been teaching Physics for nearly a quarter of a century. I have taught GCSE courses for the London University Program as well as the University of Cambridge local examination syndicate. In addition I have taught American high school physics, AP physics, and, most recently i am teaching IB physics at a local school. I have been associated with IB as an assistant examiner since 2006. I also teach pharmacy math at a local college.
In addition to teaching I have had a fair amount of experience as a technical examiner to physics practical exams by University of Cambridge. These experiences are a great advantage when I teach students not only the syllabus content but also how to pass and score well on the exam.
Math is the language of physics. I speak it very well. Even though I have little to no need for higher math such as calculus and more abstract aspects of trig etc, I extensively apply math to physics. This gives me the unique perspective of seeing its application. For example, even though students are taught rules for significant digits, I can explain the application aspect of understanding sig figs. Same is true for Algebra, Geometry and trigonometry.
While I am always willing to help students with complicated problems, I prefer not to do the students' homework for them. Similarly, I find it unethical to solve computer assignments (homework, test prep etc.) for the students while they sit back and enter my answers into the spaces and score points. My function is to help students comprehend and then solve problems themselves.
I can help students understand the content and then I can go beyond and tell them how to answer exam questions and how to take on exams so that they come out on top at the end.
