"As someone who initially struggled to raise her SAT score, I understand how valuable tutoring can be. I went from a 1340 to a 1510 and then also scored a 34 on the ACT. A few years later, here I am now passing on the skills I learned onto others. My SAT and ACT tutors had a personable approach, targeting my weaknesses but also encouraging me. And I have followed this teaching style during my undergraduate career at Cornell University. For two years, I served as a trainer for a peer support group on campus. I had to ensure my trainees were prepared to handle a multitude of situations and conversations they could face once they were out supporting fellow students through their troubles. I was able to increase my trainee's confidence by addressing their questions and affirming or correcting their responses to any questions I had for them. I took the time to explore their misunderstandings from multiple angles to see what explanation was most effective.

Taking what I learned from that experience, I support students through their academics, challenging them and acknowledging their achievements. Outside of excelling in academics, I also have experience acting and directing as I have acted in 26 productions and have directed 2. With this experience, I support students who may struggle with public speaking or want an acting coach as we go through exercises to calm nerves or to add emotion to speech.
