"Hi, I’m Shawn. I’ve been making science and math accessible to everyone for more than 25 years, in the classroom, as a tutor and in hands-on, informal science settings like science museums. I have a BA in Biology from Reed College, an MAEd as a Math Specialist from UVA, and have taught on-level, honors and AP Physics for the past decade. My broad background gives me an advantage in tutoring any STEM subject: Chemistry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, SAT/ACT, Science Fair guidance and more.

I offer more than just content expertise; I work with students to master a subject through tailored learning strategies and a supportive approach. My teaching philosophy centers on empowering students to become more confident learners as we develop subject mastery and personalized study methods for this subject.
