"I am an academic coach and tutor that specializes in students who learn differently, those who are otherwise capable yet struggle in the pursuit of achievement for whatever reason. I also take on students who have fallen behind in their semester/term and need urgent intervention to pass. My students want to do well academically but are drowning in expectations, work load, and the mixed messaging of what a good student is and how they should function. Some just want to pass, others are making the grade but at a personal cost. Whatever the words “success” and “achievement” mean, supporting the entire student is paramount.

Students: During a first lesson with me, you can expect me to ask a lot of questions about you, learn about what you wish to accomplish, examine your present situation, look through your materials, and make a plan moving forward. We fill in any cracks with tutoring. Rule #1: No shame! Your current situation is not a reflection or evaluation of who you are. I can see through all of that to what is real about you.

I am a full-time in-home academic tutor and coach to twins with autism. Since 2018, my main role has been to present high school curriculum in their learning style. In 2021, they earned their high school diplomas. Now they are 21, and we continue to focus on academics as the habitual brain work and interaction really make them come alive. We also focus on learning how to interact with others, to function out of their comfort zones, to operate in a world they don’t understand, and to cope with their individual challenges.

I also have 13 years experience in the classroom with preschool kids up to high school seniors in the rigid, cut-throat academic culture of Seoul, South Korea. So many are left behind in the system. I went above and beyond to make sure the academic experience in my classroom was supportive and adapted so that for just that moment, they felt seen, successful and fulfilled.
