"Hello, I'm Angela. My writing experience includes everything from scribbling cursive letters in elementary school to writing published articles. I've always had a passion for writing and for words. I've been invested in reading and writing since I was young and I'm still amazed at the emotions and images that language can incite in others. In grade school I would compete at spelling contests. In high school, my English teacher asked if I wanted to take his advanced creative writing class. At that time, I didn't think I had what it took to succeed in his class. A few years later in college I was asked to participate in a Writing Fellows Program. This time I didn't shy away from the opportunity. I completed the program and spent the semester tutoring students on various writing assignments. I was glad I agreed to the project even though I felt I gained more from it than the students I tutored. It increased my self confidence and made me a better writer. Knowing how to write is essential to working in any field, because it's the most effective way to share your knowledge and it will aid you no matter what path you take in life. In addition to writing, I also enjoy visual arts including photography and art history. There's nothing quite like visiting the Nelson Museum to gain a different perspective of the world or being an amateur photographer. I appreciate the creative spark that both writing and art allow us to have and share with others. Whether through written or visual language we can tell an elaborate story, make a critical argument that make people think, and ultimately change our world.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in writing and currently work writing articles for an organization's newsletter. In my spare time, I assist others in proofreading their resumes.
