"While pursuing my own education, my professors and mentors made or broke my interest in a subject. Thankfully, I had incredibly inspiring accounting professors, who helped grow my underlying passion for accounting, and I now aim to nurture this enthusiasm in others.
A Master of Accounting graduate and licensed CPA, my career has focused on the business-side of accounting (rather than the tax and audit work of a CPA firm). My expertise is in system implementation, ranging from small businesses using QuickBooks Online to publicly traded companies implementing Oracle ERP. Information systems and SQL programming for relational database management systems is intertwined into my career of in-depth accounting knowledge.
I inspire to help students embrace the larger picture of their task, to see how even the basic debits and credits of 101 journal entries play up through making strategic decisions; I challenge students to appreciate the mechanics of our age-old bookkeeping system; and I encourage students to find passion in realizing how fundamental accounting is relevant to their life, even if an accounting course is simply a gen-ed requirement.
I look forward to working together!
Sarah
