"Dear Students and Families,
My passion for education began during my undergraduate years at Luther College, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Religion while working extensively in the campus Language Learning Center. During my time there, I tutored fellow college students in writing, critical reading, research methods, and study strategies across various disciplines. I also spent a full year volunteering in a local middle school special education classroom, where I provided one-on-one academic support to students with diverse learning needs.
As someone who personally navigated academic challenges throughout my own education, I have a deep understanding of how overwhelming school can feel for students who learn differently. This personal experience, combined with my formal tutoring background, allows me to create a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. I specialize in helping students develop effective study strategies, improve their writing and reading comprehension skills, and build the organizational systems they need to succeed in their coursework. My approach focuses on teaching students how to break large assignments into smaller, manageable tasks, develop realistic study schedules, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
My tutoring sessions are structured yet flexible, always tailored to the individual student's needs and learning style. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed when given the right tools and support. My goal is not just to help students complete their current assignments, but to teach them sustainable skills they can use throughout their academic career. If your student needs someone who understands the challenges of learning differently and knows how to make academic concepts accessible and manageable, I would be delighted to work with them." less...
