"I am an experienced Algebra I teacher with over nineteen years of classroom experience working with middle school students. I hold an Ed.D. in Education, along with three master’s degrees in Education and Teaching Mathematics, and I am certified to teach in the state of Arizona. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of learners, primarily eighth graders taking Regents-level Algebra I. My background has given me a deep understanding of the developmental, academic, and motivational needs of middle school students, as well as the ability to break down complex concepts in ways that feel accessible and manageable.
Much of my teaching experience has been in a classroom setting where I support approximately ninety students each year through a full Algebra I curriculum. I regularly work with students one-on-one during intervention periods, small-group instruction, and after-school help sessions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to identify misconceptions quickly, provide targeted instruction, and tailor explanations so students can build a genuine understanding of the math they are learning. I also have extensive experience designing formative assessments, analyzing student work, and using data to guide instruction, which directly informs my approach to individualized tutoring.
My tutoring style is patient, clear, and structured. I focus on building confidence as much as building skill, helping students understand not only how to solve a problem but why the method works. Whether a student is struggling with foundational pre-algebra skills, preparing for an Algebra I exam, or seeking to strengthen overall problem-solving abilities, I work to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. My goal is always to help students feel successful, capable, and ready to tackle any math challenge they encounter." less...
