"I'm Gian (pronounced “G–on”), a freshman at the University of Florida pursuing Industrial Engineering and a member of UF's marching band. I am passionate about helping students balance academic success with their artistic interests, believing that one can excel in both without compromise.
On the math side, I have three years of tutoring experience, primarily with students in 8th through 11th grade, both in paid and volunteer roles at an afterschool program during high school. I specialize in Algebra 1 & 2, Precalculus, and Calculus 1, having earned a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam. My tutoring approach is concept-focused: I prioritize helping students understand the logic behind mathematical problems before tackling worksheets. I start by discussing their challenges and goals, then guide them through those areas while equipping them with critical thinking tools to better analyze questions.
As a pianist with 11 years of experience, including nine years of training under a classical pianist, I teach beginner and intermediate students. Depending on a student's goals, I can teach in a classical manner, focus on more contemporary music, or provide a mix of both. It all depends on whether you have a specific goal—like learning to cover your favorite songs—or simply want to learn how to play the piano. Whether students don’t know how to read music or already have a solid foundation, I emphasize applying basic technique and music theory to actual sheet music. I provide my own lesson books and encourage students to take pictures for practice outside of sessions. Since beginning teaching in March 2025, I have worked one-on-one with fellow college students as well as children aged 8 and 9.
My goal as a tutor is to help students build independence and develop strong practice habits that will support their growth, whether in math or music. I truly appreciate constructive feedback and am always happy to answer any questions or concerns." less...
