"I have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2017), with 10 research publications (5 first-author). I studied the role of small ubiquitin-like modifiers (SUMO) when modifying DNA repair proteins, specifically the base excision repair enzyme thymine DNA glycosylase (TDG). My post-doctoral experience took me to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, where I designed an Illumina-based sequencing technique for identifying the high-affinity binding site for DNA-binding proteins. I also worked extensively on Oxford Nanopore sequencing for inherited pediatric cancers of the adrenal glands.
I also minored in English during my Bachelor's degree. I write fiction (occasionally!) in my spare time. I have been a lab teaching assistant at the University of Georgia as well.
