I've worked for over a year as a writing tutor at Everett Community College, where I helped people at both the high school and college levels. I've excelled in school, as I skipped 5th grade and graduated a year early at the top of my class. My first attempt at the SAT granted me a score of 1460, which puts me in the top 1% of students overall. My reading/writing score was 790 (99th percentile), and my writing score was 670 (92nd percentile). 

Although that makes me seem like an avid writer, I actually excel most in debate. I placed among the top teams at the national competition last year and intend to take it to the top this year. In the past, I've researched and debated US federal military commitments, AI policy, dark web policy, antikleptocracy efforts, relations with Europe, and (this year) energy/environmental policy. Next year, I'll be on the Patrick Henry College Debate Team (a top-1% forensics/debate program). This experience makes me uniquely qualified to teach public speaking, topic research, logic, and critical thinking. 

I choose to tutor because I love to see the spark of recognition in the eyes of a student, and I want to help others with things that challenge me. Also, one of the best ways to learn a subject is to teach it. I believe everyone has the capability within themselves to accomplish their learning goals. My job as a tutor isn't to show someone how to get the answer, but to strengthen their own ability to find the answer.
