"I hold a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, a Master's degree in Anatomical Sciences, and I am currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Anatomical Sciences with a focus on anatomical education. The individuals who have positively impacted me the most in my life have been teachers, and I take great pride in being that same person for others. Good teachers not only have the knowledge of the information that they are teaching, but they also inspire students to become curious and motivated to ask their own questions.
Since 2019, I have been teaching Anatomy and Physiology in various formats. My teaching journey began as a lab assistant in the cadaver lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I also led large-scale study sessions both in-person and online as part of a supplemental instruction team. I then taught in a cadaver lab as a teaching assistant at Montana State University while obtaining my Master's degree. While finishing my Master's degree, I began teaching at Gallatin Community College as the sole instructor for Anatomy and Physiology and have been teaching there since 2022.
In my experience, one of the most effective study methods is having students talk through the material aloud. I encourage students to repeat information back to me during study sessions so they can assess their own understanding. When students begin to explain concepts in their own words, they quickly discover how well they truly know the material. This process not only reinforces learning but also builds confidence.
Anatomy is a notoriously difficult subject, but it’s also one of the fascinating (not that I’m biased!) and rewarding subjects to learn. Many students taking this class will need this knowledge when going into their careers, and I find great pride in assisting students in retaining this information so that they can become the best versions of themselves." less...
