"I previously worked as a technology consultant utilizing my Master's degree in Information Systems to provide insight to some of the largest banks and financial services companies in Florida. To pursue a career change into medicine, I started my pre-med courses in the Spring of 2023. Through diligent study and organization, I have earned a 4.0 GPA in my science courses, including general and organic chemistry, and completed my MCAT with an overall score of 511 while working close to 30 hours per week. As a tutor, I hope to not only teach my students science but also the discipline, time management, and organization skills required to succeed beyond the classroom.
While completing my prerequisite coursework, I served as a tutor and teaching assistant for students taking general chemistry. I prefer to work with students one-on-one as I can provide more personalized instruction but have also tutored for larger groups. I tailor my style to fit the individual needs of my students and the material they cover in class. Generally, at the start of my sessions, I speak with the student to gauge their level of mastery in a subject and work to fill in any blind spots. After reviewing the material, I focus my sessions on practice problems and the application of material to prepare students for success in their exams.
In addition to teaching chemistry to college students, I have also worked with high school students for chemistry and SAT prep for roughly one year during my undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. I performed well on my SAT test in high school and enjoy helping students understand the logic of standardized tests. These tests are often intimidating for students so I focus on familiarizing them with the style of the test to boost their scores and ease test anxiety." less...
