"Hi! My name is Nick, and I’m a PhD student in Astronomy at the University of Virginia. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, where I graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Astrophysics and Physics.

I have extensive experience teaching a number of STEM fields, in a variety of settings both in and out of the classroom. I have worked as an independent tutor for over ten years, particularly focusing on high school math and physics. In college I worked for three years at the Harvard Bureau of Study Counsel, tutoring other Harvard students in introductory physics and astronomy courses. As a graduate student I have twice taught a UVA summer course in astronomy, in addition to serving as a TA for multiple lab-based and project-based astronomy courses. I have also mentored multiple undergraduate students in research projects, helping guide them through the mix of math, physics, statistics, and coding that makes up modern astronomical research.

My goal as an educator has always been to share my passion for math and physics, and ignite that same passion in my students. My teaching tends to be process-oriented; if I can help students develop the skills and modes of thinking to work through difficult problems, whether in math, physics, coding, or otherwise, they’ll be able to succeed over time regardless of the subject matter.
