"Hello! My name is Christian S., and I am a professional saxophonist and educator with over six years of experience performing and teaching. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst University and regularly travel nationwide performing for galas, weddings, corporate events, festivals, and other productions across a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, rock, pop, and contemporary music. This active performance career allows me to bring real-world musical experience into every lesson.
As a teacher, I work with motivated students at a variety of levels — from developing musicians building strong fundamentals to advanced players preparing for college auditions, top ensemble placements, and scholarship opportunities. Several of my students have earned acceptance and scholarships at respected programs such as DePaul University and Northern Illinois University. While I specialize in jazz and contemporary styles, I also teach classical repertoire, technique, tone production, articulation, and stylistic interpretation across genres. Music theory is always integrated into my lessons so students not only learn what to play, but understand why the music works.
My teaching style is individualized and goal-oriented. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, interests, and long-term goals, whether that means refining technique, expanding improvisational language, improving sight-reading, or preparing for high-level auditions and performances. I would love the opportunity to work with you and help you reach your musical goals — whether you're refining your craft or preparing for your next big step." less...
