"My experience in tutoring/teaching is associated with study groups during my biotech manufacturing certificate course where as a group we presented power point presentations to each other in order to divide the presentation into smaller and more presentable blocks. While in college I tutored classes I had previously taken, knowing the preferences of the instructors was able to direct that information to the students.

Tutoring allows me to point out to the student how to navigate through all the information-to point out the important details and information. I will ask my students to summarize a paragraph for instance,"what is the main point, what are the key words you need to understand"

I find teaching rewarding. I know much information and want to show students how they can also learn it. There is a time commitment I do require.

I have taken anatomy in under graduate and graduate programs and done well in both. As a biology major I studied populations, growth and development, microbiology, the whole lot. In dental college more of the same but more difficult and voluminous. Learning time management and study priorities a must.

My experience in ESOL was with third graders in a foreign land. In the U.S. I find third graders or the age of 9-10 students are open minded and ready to learn. My experience outside the U.S. proved differently. I don't teach ESOL for K-6 for that reason. My students must be able to give me 100% of their attention, interact with me and fellow students. I find a small group of 3-5 works best because people learn from each other as much as from their instructor. One on one is acceptable on a case by case basis. (good student).

I look forward to meeting energetic individuals and small groups. During the second session I will quiz you on the previous lesson and each consecutive lesson the quiz will be cumulative. Repetition aids long term memory. This method is a good way for me to evaluate my student and is a good way for the student to self evaluate." less...
