"My name is Dan R. (he/him). I am a graduate of Oberlin College, having double majored in Biology and Anthropology, with a minor in Chemistry. I've been tutoring in varying capacities for around 2 years cumulatively, with students ranging from middle school to college. I have a broad knowledge base of many subjects, with expertise in biology, organic chemistry, anthropology, and writing. I place great emphasis on helping students understand subject matter from a holistic and comprehensive perspective, teaching them different ways to approach a subject, and helping them to figure out how they learn best. I am friendly and enthusiastic, and love working with students of all ages. I enjoy helping students to understand concepts, make connections, and get excited about learning!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. During my time in college I helped out with drop-in tutoring, helping chemistry students learn the basic foundations of the field. I also majored in Anthropology, where I learned a great deal about academic writing and how to present arguments. I have a great deal of research experience as well, which has allowed me to solidify and supplement my understanding of scientific fields with hands-on experience.

I have been playing drums for over 12 years, and I have garnered a great deal of experience with a number of different percussion instruments as well.

I place a lot of emphasis on meeting students where they are, identifying new ways of thinking about concepts that might be difficult for them, and on understanding a subject from a comprehensive perspective, rather than simply providing them with the answers.
